• Applications of fMRI, EEG, fNIRS and MEG in road safety driving behaviour research analysed. (Dis)advantages each neuroimaging method various experiments discussed. EEG found to be the most popular experiments, followed by fMRI. fMRI studies mostly experimented neural effects recreational drugs distractive stimuli. predominantly focused on driver fatigue detection sleepiness. methods have substantially contributed scientific understanding human factors during providing a deeper insight into neuro-cognitive aspects brain. This has been achieved conducting simulated (and occasionally, field) while collecting brain signals types. Here, this sector is comprehensively reviewed at both macro micro scales. At scale, bibliometric these are different themes identified findings within theme synthesised. The surveyed literature reported applications four major imaging methods. These include Functional Magnetic Resonance Imaging (fMRI), Electroencephalography (EEG), Near-Infrared Spectroscopy (fNIRS) Magnetoencephalography (MEG), with first two being common domain. Driving and the Brain: an Imaging Study

Driving is a complex behavior that recruits multiple cognitive elements. To attempt to delineate the underlying neuroanatomy of this cognitive complexity, we used functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) during driving simulation. We report an imaging study of simulated driving and identify several groups of regions, each modulated differently by our imaging paradigm. In order to parse out ...

Qualitative Methods in Travel Behaviour Research

This purpose of this paper is to both demonstrate the importance of qualitative methods in travel behaviour research and explore the challenges researchers face in employing them. Qualitative methods offer a powerful tool for helping us understand the complexities of travel behavior. Methods such as focus groups, interviews, and participant-observer techniques can be used in conjunction with qu...
